Our mission is to provide a creative education for grades K through 8 – emphasizing multicultural, cooperative, and experiential learning, supported by strong family participation.
We see our school as a diverse community where:Children are given the space and time to learn and the encouragement to succeed.Students develop academic, behavioral, and personal tools that enable them to thrive in different environments. The curriculum is connected to or grounded in real life experiences. Our program is creative, multicultural, community-based, and centered on experiential learning through thematic curricula.
The GreenMount School was founded in 1993 by six adventurous parents devoted to a child-centered model of education. What began as a one room parent co-op, has now grown into a thriving school community inhabiting the entire building and grounds of the former Wyman Park Recreation Center in the Remington neighborhood of Baltimore.
We believe that the best way to understand what makes GreenMount special is by experiencing it firsthand. Join us for a tour or one of our Open Houses to see and feel the joy of learning.
We believe that a high-quality education should be accessible to all families. The GreenMount School offers variable tuition rates and financial aid options to assist families in need.
Just as every GreenMount student is unique, so too is their high school search. We work closely with each student and their family to reach an understanding about which types of high schools will be best suited for each child.

Have Wisdom, Will Fly
We believe that when students gain wisdom through curiosity, reflection, and meaningful learning, they gain confidence to soar. It reminds us that knowledge, empathy, and courage give our students the wings they need to explore the world and shape their future.
